The Kahuna
The Kāhuna — Kāhuna Kaula • Lāʻau Lapaʻau
The Kāhuna honors the depth of traditional Hawaiian knowledge—the ʻike carried, practiced, and passed forward through generations.
This design represents the kāhuna kaula and the practice of lāʻau lapaʻau, reflecting a deep relationship with the natural world, spirituality, prayer, and traditional knowledge. Surrounded by native plants and the beauty of Hawaiʻi, the imagery honors those who understood that caring for the whole person meant recognizing the connection between body, mind, spirit, ʻāina, and community.
At the heart of the design is the ʻōlelo noʻeau:
“I ka hohonu nō ka ʻike” — “Knowledge is found in the depths.”
It is a reminder that true ʻike comes through deep observation, learning, experience, and connection to those who came before us.
Printed on a soft Allmade Tri-Blend shirt, selected to complement the purpose behind the collection. Each shirt incorporates material made from six recycled plastic bottles, helping give discarded plastic another life.
